Hobbs and Shaw and The Nightingale

We're back in the world of big, noisy blockbusters this weekend as Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw, the first spinoff from the wildly popular franchise that's made more than $5 billion to date. Yup, that's a lot of bling! And Jason and Howie will provide a sneak peak at the Dwayne Johnson/Jason Statham vehicle (pun intended) when From The Basement takes to the Radio NL 610 AM Morning News at about 8:40 this morning.

Jason versus The Babadook

There's been a lot of buzz about Jennifer Kent's debut feature The Babadook, a dark tale of a tormented mother and son. But tormented by what? That's the question they, and us the audience, are handed early on in The Babadook. Is finding out worth the watch? Stick with me! A single mother, plagued by the violent death of her husband, battles with her son's fear that a monster is lurking in their house. She soon discovers a sinister presence is all around her.

IFC Midnight acquires The Babadook

Y'all remember that creepy looking Aussie horror flick The Babadook we told you about earlier this year ? The one that freaked out everyone at Sundance in the best possible way? Well, we've got some good news for those Basementites who are as pumped to see it as we are. Genre distributor IFC Midnight has picked up the U.S. and Latin America rights to Jennifer Kent's debut feature, which means it'll hit theatres or some other platform Nov. 28. Awesome. That's sooner rather than later.

Creepy flick The Babadook gets an equally creepy poster

And this poster is 100-per-cent legitimate. We promise! Just last week we told you about Jennifer Kent's Australian horror flick The Babadook, which earned rave reviews after a screening at Sundance . We showed you the trailer, and there was much shorts shitting I am sure. Nothing sucks more than a cool looking movie handcuffed to a terrible or uninspired poster. Fortunately, this poster lives up the creepy trailer mentioned above. Observe:

A spooky story comes to terrifying life in The Babadook

God damn, this trailer gives me the willies. Big time. If Sundance is showing flicks like this, I gotta get my ass to that festival one day. The trailer for Jennifer Kent's creepy Australian horror flick The Babadook debuted within the last 24 hours, and it's brilliant. I know Dead Snow : Red vs Dead is one of the horror big guns at Sundance, but this could be the flick that walks away with all the praise. Watch, crank up the volume, and understand. See! The Babadook makes its world premiere at Sundance on Friday , Jan. 17. Here's the official synopsis: a single mother , plagued by the violent death of her husband, battles with her son's fear of a monster lurking in the house. But she soon discovers a sinister presence is all around her.
