Jason versus Pacific Rim

What boy of the nerd variety didn't dream of that glorious day when giant robots would throw down with giant monsters ? For the longest time we were content to watch said combat unfold in low budget Japanese movies and kiddie cartoons. Then along comes director Guillermo del Toro and the game changes. As a war between humankind and monstrous sea creatures wages on, a former pilot and a trainee are paired up to drive a seemingly obsolete special weapon in a desperate effort to save the world from the apocalypse. OK, Pacific Rim is far from perfect. The first half focuses way too much on the puny humans and Top Gun rivalries. And lets' face it, we know we're watching nothing but a bunch of special effects when it comes to the smashing. This makes it hard, at least for yours truly, to get too wrapped up in the action. These quibbles aside, Pacific Rim is the cat's ass. This movie is fun. And it fulfilled my childhood dream of watching monsters versus rob...

Jason and Shawn versus House of Good and Evil

House of Good and Evil Jason: House of Good and Evil is an interesting beast. It's a great example of how you write and direct a low-budget feature. One location, for the most part anyway, and a limited cast. This is pretty much a one-woman show. And Rachel Marie Lewis just kills it. She's hot, and she can act the pants off a businessman in Vegas. Gotta love a chick with that kind of talent. The flick has its flaws. It's too long and borders on melodrama at times. There's a big third-act twist that I won't give away. You'll dig it or you won't. At first I did, but the more I thought about it, the more annoyed I became. By the time everything sunk in, I felt I'd wasted my time. I wanted to give House of Good and Evil a Good because I dug so much of it, but the ending left me cold. A Bad it is. Shawn : Without spoiling this movie , those who know me, know this is my least favorite style of movie. A time waster. This movie could be subject to two ...

UPDATED: House of Good and Evil gets a facelift

In the form of this slick -- and a little creepy -- poster that is. The new image coincides with writer/producer Blu de Golyer 's psycho thriller being named an official selection at next month's Arizona International Film Festival , so that's two pieces of good news for de Glyyer and director David Mun. House of Good and Evil follows the story of a young couple who move from the fast-paced life of the city to an isolated home nestled deep in the woods of Appalachia in a last-chance effort to save their deteriorating marriage. They quickly find out extraordinary evil has followed them to their new address. The flick stars Rachel Marie Lewis, Christian Oliver , Marietta Marich , Jordan Rhodes , Rob Neukirch and Bo Keister.
