Monday Retro Review: Eight Legged Freaks

There was a time when David Arquette was a box office draw (kinda), Scarlett Johansson was relatively unknown, and Kari Wuhrer starred in a TV show called Sliders . During this wondrous era, a giant spider movie called Eight Legged Freaks came out, and it starred all of them. But was it good? Stick with me! A variety of horrible, poisonous spiders get exposed to a noxious chemical that causes them to grow to  monumental proportions. Then they attack a small town.

The Month of Horror Day 8: Scream 4

Basement contributor Matt Bellamy has taken it upon himself to watch and review at least one horror movie a day for the month of October . . . because he's awesome that way! Tonight, Bellamy asks "What's your favourite scary movie" for a fourth time.   Sure is good to see horror mastermind Wes Craven bounce back after the abysmal ' My Soul To Take ', I guess it took going back to the well of one of his more popular series to make it happen! The 'Screa m' movies haven't all been consistently great, in fact I feel like each installment got progressively worse, culminating in ' Scream 3' which was way too up its own ass and forgot to be entertaining let alone scary. Good news, everyone! 'Scream 4' is the best one since the original! Watching this was like stepping back into a time machine to the 90's, back when the first became such a huge hit and...
