Halloween Day By Day: Halloween (2018)

As a lifelong fan of John Carpenter's Halloween and the franchise it inspired, catching David Gordon Green's direct sequel to the 1978 original was a bit of an overwhelming experience. Possibly even more so for this critic than seeing The Force Awakens. Suffice to say, that's why my review on our latest podcast was brief, and my thoughts on the Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show even more so.

Halloween (2018) and The Hate U Give

It's that time of year again (well, almost) and that means everyone is entitled to one good scare . . . even Jason and Shawn. And that's what The Basement Boys are in for with this, the extended cut of Friday's segment on the Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show. Why, because they are venturing out of The Basement and into the cinema to see the new Halloween.

Halloween knows The Hate U Give

There are a pair of movies vying for your attention this weekend; one of them a highly anticipated follow up to a 40-year-old classic, the other a super charged take a beloved book. Given the differences between the latest Halloween film and The Hate U Give, there's room for both movies at the box office. But, when it comes to dollars earned, Jason and Howie will likely put their money on Jamie Lee Curtis during today's segment on the Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show, starting at 8:20 a.m.

New Halloween flick is rated R

After months of speculation by horror fans, the MPAA has finally gone done and handed down a rating for David Gordon Green's upcoming Halloween movie . . . one that should please fans as much as fans can be pleased. Instead of going the PG-13 route of recent Blumhouse horror hits, Green and co-writer Danny McBride went old school, and the movie will indeed be rated R!

Jamie Lee Curtis returns to Halloween

The Halloween franchise is a strange universe indeed, having been retconned and reimagined several times in its 39-year history. Well, today big news hit about another huge twist in the franchise -- Jamie Lee Curtis will return in the next Halloween film . . . and she's playing Laurie Strode!!

Get titty f@$ked by the new This is the End trailer

Self-aware comedies with actors playing themselves is a new concept in Hollywood, which is why we here in The Basement have made note of the upcoming apocalypse comedy This is the End. A few months back we showed you the Red Band teaser trailer. Now we've got the full-on raunchy preview -- which features Seth Rogan , James Franco, Jonah Hill , Danny McBride , Michael Cera , Jay Baruchel , Craig Robinson, Jason Segal Aziz Ansari , Mindy Kaling and Paul Rudd . Yup, the whole Judd Apatow crew. The plot? The world is coming to an end and our A-list cast has to survive. Why do I want to see it? It looks funny as fuck, plus I get to watch Michael Cera die, that twat Aziz Ansari get kicked into a big hole and Emma Watson go postal. My kind of movie. But don't take my word for it, push play and judge for yourselves. The is the End opens June 14. James Franco and Seth Rogen say This Is The End

I think I just peed myself. This Red Band trailer for the upcoming ensembles comedy This Is The End is that fucking funny. It starts with a found-footage style introduction by James Franco and Seth Rogen that is hilarious to begin with. Then the trailer kicks in and things get . . . messed up? Written and directed by Rogen and Evan Goldberg and starring Rogen, Franco, Jay Baruchel, Craig Robinson, Danny McBride and Jonah Hill as themselves, the film finds six friends trapped in a house after a series of strange and catastrophic events devastate Los Angeles. Inspired to be sure but, if the whole movie is as funny as this preview, we're in for a comedic gem. If the world does end tomorrow, I can die knowing that I watched some funny shit during my last day on Earth. Now get ready to laugh until you pee yourself. This Is The End arrives in theatres June. 14.
