Jason and Shawn versus The Scout

Writer/director Nick Everhart ( Chilling Visions: 5 Senses of Fear and Slash-In-The-Box ) sent The Basement his latest effort, a loving homage to the Amblin Entertainment flicks of the 80s. Wanna see what The Basement Boys are talking about, then click here and enjoy this short film! Jason: Nick is three for three in my book. This captured the look, feel, sensibilities and sense of fun that made Amblin flick's so awesome for us 80s children. And there's lots of geekster eggs for people who grew up on these movies. One complaint -- I wish this was a feature film . Come on, Nick. Do it! A must for sons and fathers with sons. Good! Shawn: This was pretty cool. I love it when I can immerse myself in a story, when I only have limited time, and the story also is limited, and still be satisfied...at the end. This story was definitely fun, adventurous and I enjoyed it as such. I'd like to see more like this. A Good. Source: The Scout Related articles "And Th...

Jason versus Under the Bed

There's few things cooler than watching a movie made by or starring a past Basement guest. It's the cat's ass really. Last season we interviewed director Steven C. Miller about his brilliant slasher flick Silent Night, and he dropped some deets about an earlier effort, Under the Bed, that had yet to be released. Well, it's out now bitches. And I've seen it! The premise is shit simple: two brothers team up to battle a creature that lives under the bed. Sound corny? Well, the final product sure isn't. It's like an R-rated Amblin Entertainment flick from the 80s, only sombre. Steven does a lot here with very little. The cast is limited, as are the locations. And sadly not enough of Eric Stolze's script is developed for my liking. This is a slow burn that burns a little too slow, in my opinion. Fortunately the final act really delivers the goods. We get gore, scares, a couple of laughs and even some suspense that would make John Carpenter proud. An...

Peep the official trailer for Steven C. Miller's Under the Bed

We're big fans of director Steven C. Miller 's Christmas slasher flick Silent Night , and anxiously await the release of his next movie, Under the Bed . We've teased the French preview before, but now we've got a look at the official North American preview. Mofo looks awesome! During an exclusive interview on the show, Miller described Under the Bed as a throwback to the Amblin Entertainment productions of the 1980s, only bloody. The official synopsis is pretty simple: two brothers team up to battle a creature that lives under the bed. But enough talk. Watch and be impressed. Under the Bed is scheduled for release some time this summer. Learn more about the flick on Facebook . Source: The Wrap Related articles PeePaw on Dying Make a Date with Steven C. French Under the Bed trailer is c'est bon

Silent Night director Steven C. Miller 's next effort, Under the Bed , hits North American theatres this summer. We've yet to see a preview from our side of the pond, but the French have provided us with a look . . . and it looks bon! Under the Bed is inspired by early Amblin scare pictures like Gremlins and Poltergeist. You know, when horror was fun and freaky at the same time? In fact the plot, about two brothers who do battle with a monster who lives -- you guessed it -- under the bed, sounds like something Steven Spielberg would have tackled back in the day. Shawn and I interviewed Steven (C. Miller) earlier this year, and this is a dude who knows and loves horror and movie making. His Silent Night is one of the best slasher films in recent memory, and we can't wait to review Under the Bed here in The Basement. Until then, check out this preview. Source: Steven C.
