The 6th Friend, Replicas, The Upside and A Dog's Way Home

Last weekend there was nothing, but this weekend there's three big releases and one film in limited release that every horror fan needs to check out. And Jason and Shawn are here to tell you all about 'em! For starters, scream queen Jamie Bernadette stars, co-wrote and produced the slasher movie The 6th Friend, and it's been granted a limited theatrical run today. How cool is that? Given the Basement Boys have seen it, and will put the flick on the chopping block, it could be very cool indeed. What'd they think? Stick with us!

Replicas finds The Upside to A Dog's Way Home

There's a trio of new movies headed your way this weekend, promising something for everyone. Well, as long as you like sci-fi, drama, comedy or dogs. Come to think of it, that pretty much IS everyone! And Jason, Shawn and Howie give you the rundown on all three movies, so your box-office dollar is well spent. Don't thank them now -- it's what today's segment on the mighty Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show is all about.

Meet Carol in this new Star Trek Into Darkness clip

Star Trek Into Darkness is just weeks away, and we're all pretty jazzed to see it here in The Basement. It's Star Trek, dammit. Only sexy. And exciting. And, if the title is any indication, a wee bit dark. A lot of attention has been paid to Benedict Cumberbatch 's villain, who promises to be seriously bad to the ass whether he's Khan or not. But what about the blond hottie of the group? Her name is Carol, and all indications point to her being Dr. Carol Marcus , who we all know and love as Kirk's former flame in Start Trek II: The Wrath of Khan . Below is a clip from the JJ Abrams sequel introducing Carol to Kirk and Spock . I love it too. For a movie that has darkness in the title, this sure has all the banter we love about Star Trek. And yes Carol, played by Alice Eve , is Kirk worthy. The above picture of Alice/Carol was the ONLY one we could find, for the record. Enjoy! And, if you're in Thailand , you're welcome for the subtitles. Star ...

Eleven, count 'em 11, new Star Trek Into Darkness stills

Fresh from the pages of Empire magazine come these new stills from J.J. Abrams much anticipated Star Trek sequel. And now we've got them for your eye holes! Below you will see images of Chris Pine as Capt. James T. Kirk along with series regulars Simon Pegg as Scotty, Zoe Saldana as Uhura, and Zachary Quinto as Spock. We also get to peep Alice Eve as Carole Marcus and main bad dude Benedict Cumberbatch as John Harrison. All we can say is cool! After the crew of the Enterprise find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction.   Star Trek Into Darkness opens everywhere May 17.

A killer trip to the bank in ATM

I think this trailer for the new slasher movie ATM is proof filmmakers are running out of ideas. For one, I'm not sure how they can milk the formula of three people trapped at an automated teller machine by a killer interesting for 90 minutes. Plus, as a character says in the preview below, there's three of them and only one killer. Just rush the fucker, get it over with, and go grab a beer or something. But discounting a movie based on a trailer is almost as bad as getting too hyped up for one because of the same. And the film does star Alice Eve who is, well, hot. So I'm half way there already. David Brooks directs from a script by Chris Sparling, who penned the incredible Buried. That just increased my interest level. Hopefully he kept the plot holes to a minimum and we don't spend the entire running time watching people stand around looking scared. No word yet on when this hits theatres, but we'll keep you posted.
