Project Blue Book comes down to Earth, so to speak, for its sixth episode.
Inspired by the 1940's case of The Green Fireballs, which detailed mysterious green lights buzzing over military installations, we find Hynek and Quinn investigating said fireballs after they appear at a nuclear testing facility.
Why down to Earth? A good portion of The Green Fireballs dances around the subject of UFOs being Russian spy craft. During the Cold War, the U.S. and Russia did use state-of-the-art aircraft to perform surveillance on each other, so having that as the focus is a welcome relief from the alien conspiracy plots of recent episodes.
We also kinda learn more about the mystery man who has been following Hynek, delve deeper into Susie and why she's spying on the Hyneks -- not to mention see things get a little nasty in that regard -- and witness Hynek set himself on his own path (spoiler alert) when it comes to investigating UFOs.
All in all, this is a pretty grounded episode. Not as intense as the last few, but one that moves all the plots forward in a nice way. This is what I had expected, and kinda wanted, from the show since the beginning. Once again, a Good.
Also, congrats on the show being renewed for Season 2. Consider this critic stoked at the news!
