Kurt Russell joins Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

I always like to balance the indie updates with a bit of big news, and I highly doubt today's big news will get much bigger than this: Kurt Russell has joined the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

That's right, Jack Burton himself is headed for outer space!

Marvel's sci-fi sequel started production today, and director James Gunn dropped the news via his Facebook and Twitter accounts. He didn't say who Russell plays in the movie, but rumours have circulated for months the former Snake Plissken would be cast as Peter Quill's dad.

Now, my one complaint about Guardians of the Galaxy was Quill should have been played by a young Kurt Russell (no disrespect to Chris Pratt). So today's news kinda rights that wrong for me. Kinda.

Clearly, we'll learn more about Russell's involvement as production continues. I'm just glad the man is back on screen in a big way.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opens May 5, 2017.
