"I don't want to die in Canada," a clip from Tusk

On the surface, horror and Kevin Smith don't go together. But that hasn't stopped the indie director best known for Clerks and Jay and Silent Bob from trying.

His first effort, Red State, was so-so. I'd say it falls more into thriller territory than horror. His latest effort, Tusk, sounds a lot more like a straight-up genre picture, with a little bit of Smith's humour thrown in for good measure.

In Tusk, Justin Long plays a journalist who is captured by a maniac and tortured physically and mentally into becoming a walrus. Yup, a walrus. This clip features a pre-walrus Long as he makes a desperate phone call for help. And a humorous request.

Gotta admit, I'm down for this. It just sounds so . . . wrong!

Tusk also stars Genesis Rodriguez, Haley Joel Osment (yes, the kid from The Sixth Sense) and Michael Parks. It hits theatres the same day Season Six debuts in The Basement: Sept 19.
