Willem Dafoe, Matt Dillon lured to Bad Country

It's been a long time since I've watched a decent southern noir, and the upcoming crime flick Bad Country looks like it'll fit the bill.

I admit I'm a bit startled by the fact the early 80s make the film a period piece. That's within my lifetime after all, so I guess I've been around a while. Ha!

Directed by Chris Brinker, who produced The Boondock Saints and its sequel, Bad Country is about Baton Rouge police detective Bud Carter (Willem Dafoe), who busts contract killer Jess Weiland (Matt Dillon) and convinces him to become an informant. The goal is to rat out the south's most powerful crime ring.

Amy Smart, Tom Berenger, Neal McDonough and Bill Duke also star. Yes, the cast impresses me. Will give this a watch when it hits VOD on April 22. The flick lands on DVD and Blu-ray April 29.
