Over the past couple of weeks, I have tried to find interesting articles about films from the various, wonderous genres of cinema. Today, it's time for me to turn my eye on Family Films.
2013 has already seen the release of "Oz, The Great and Powerful", but there is another one coming out- "Dorothy of Oz". This addition to the great and powerful Oz library is a computer animated adventure that sees Dorothy being summoned BACK to Oz (after having just left pretty much), to discover that a villian called The Jester has been using the Wicked Witch of the West's wand to turn her friends and those around him into puppets that he can control. Of course, she's helped by an unlikely trio of heros as they hurry to save the day.
"Dorothy of Oz" is based on Roger Stanton Baum's book of the same name, and stars Lea Michele as Dorothy, Dan Akroyd as The Scarecrow, Kelsey Grammer as The Tin Man, James Belushi as the Cowardly Lion, and Martin Short as The Jester.
I'm sure "Wizard of Oz" fans will want to see this when it hits theatres. I'm curious about it, myelf actually. My only worry is that The Jester will wind up being similar to Martin Short's Jack Frost character in "The Santa Clause III: The Escape Clause", and that this movie might be too... sugary sweet to appeal to most Basementites.
We'll just have to wait and see... and ignore the man behind the curtain of course...
