The Month of Horror Day 5: Re-Animator

Basement contributor Matt Bellamy has taken it upon himself to watch and review at least one horror movie a day for the month of October . . . because he's awesome that way! He's mixing some laughs with his grue for this fifth entry, but what else would one expect from Stuart Gordon's Re-Animator!?

Time for some decidedly lighter fare after the last few entries! Not to say 'Re-Animator' isn't a true horror movie, it absolutely is however it exists in that wonderful sub-genre that is cheesy 80's horror-comedy, my favourite genre of horror. Jeffrey Combs stars as a young mad scientist who is obsessed with trying to re-animate the dead, going to such lengths as to even murder innocent people for his subjects; wacky fun!! This movie is as hilarious as it is gross and if you're a cat lover or a card carrying member of PETA I would strongly advise against watching this one, for all other sickos out there like myself though, dig in and enjoy!
