Gone Fishin'?


Not really, but we here in The Basement have been distracted by work, wives, and other mundane life priorities that have kept us from posting on this blog. To our regular readers: sorry. And thanks to Patrick for keeping the Facebook page loaded with quality film-related links to read.

But we are back! We have two more episodes in the can. The first will be up Monday with reviews of Defendor and The Descent Part 2. Then, in two weeks, we've got District 13: Ultimatum and The Lovely Bones.

Not wanting to get too far ahead of ourselves, but we're also lining up reviews of the cult horror films Midnight Movie and The Poughkeepsie Tapes. Very excited about those. If anyone has a film they'd like us to review, please drop us a line.

Moving right along, the wife and I checked out Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time recently. Here's a micro review:

"The film is one of the best pieces of pure entertainment I have seen in a while. To be honest, I liked it more than all three Pirates movies put together. It's a mindless high-octane adventure that demands very little of your intellect, but doesn't bludgeon us with sheer stupidity for two hours nor leave us with a huge headache from wearing those stupid 3D glasses. There are cool stunts, exciting escapes, a great McGuffin in the mystic dagger, and Gemma Arterton. 'Nuff said! A Good review from The Basement."

How about that? Wasn't that cool? Look for more micro reviews of the big summer releases in the weeks ahead. Dude and I are going on a bit of hiatus for the summer. Truth told, we need a break, and summer is a big time for vacations etc. etc. etc. But we will come back with a new episode once a month and micro casts if we see something that we just have to tell you about. Like The Expendables. 'Cause that just looks awesome. Our regular scheduled of bi-monthly episodes will resume in the fall. Think of them as Season 2.

What's this? Two podcasts From The Basement in less than nine months? Has the world gone mad!?! No, but when past Basement guest Grace Victoria Patterson asked nicely if she could return to this fine podcast, Jason and Shawn -- agreeable sorts that they are -- said yes.
