I bring shame to my family by admitting I didn't catch Godzilla: King of the Monsters during it's initial theatrical run back in May. But life happens, and this lifelong Godzilla fan failed to do so. But I've bloody well seen it now, and I have much love for it! Lamestream critics bashed Michael Doughtery's epic Godzilla movie for not putting human drama first, and instead focusing on monster-versus-monster action. I wonder what the fuck movie they were expecting? As much as I enjoyed 2014's Godzilla, it had a little too much human drama for my liking. In fact, my chief complaint about Godzilla: King of the Monsters is there's still too many people in this movie. I yearn for the day when I get a Godzilla movie that's all monsters, and boring humans are nothing more than things to be stepped on. I digress. This is a great Godzilla movie, with epic battles between the King of the Monsters and Monster Zero and Rodan. Plus there's Mothra here too, ...

And Jason and Shawn intend to do just that as From The Basement returns with a new extended cut podcast that will surely pleasure your ear holes!

Three movies open this weekend, but only one of them features the King of the Monsters. Take a guess if that's the flick the boys From The Basement are most excited about. That's right, this latest spot for Warner Bros. upcoming sequel Godzilla: King of the Monsters pledges a film filled with, well, beautiful destruction. And we in The Basement are A-OK with that. We all dug Gareth Edwards' 2014 Godzilla movie, but it lacked monster-vs-monster combat on an epic, planet-smashing scale. Michael Dougherty's follow up will rectify that.

I love Gareth Edwards' 2014 Godzilla movie. Many complainers complained there wasn't enough monster action, but I liked it fine. Judging from this latest trailer for the upcoming follow up, there will be no room for complaints in that department when Michael Dougherty delivers the sequel next May.

Aside from having the longest episode title in Basement history, the latest entry in our eight-year-long series also marks the first time Shawn has not appeared on the show! Yup, no Shawn for you! He's on vacation. But the Mad Twit Mike S sits down with Jason for this, the extended cut of Friday's segment on the mighty Radio NL 610 AM Kamloops, featuring an interview with filmmakers Troy Foreman and Jason Morris about their documentary Millennium After the Millennium.

Comic-Con 2018 is in full swing down in San Diego, and The Basement is unable to be there. But we can bring you the goods when able. And at this moment, we can present the trailers for the upcoming DCU flicks SHAZAM! and Aquaman and the much-anticipated Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

I'm a hard-core Godzilla fan. I even have a tattoo of the King of the Monsters on my right leg. Love the classic Toho films. Love the 2014 version by Gareth Edwards. The 1996 Matthew Broderick film? ... not so much.
