A couple of games caught my eye this week. The first one is Wandersong, which comes out on PS4 January 22. This little guy is all about singing and hope, which instantly hooked me. Don't get me wrong wrong, I love my gory hack and slash, but sometimes you just want something else.
Wandersong's already been released on PC, so I jumped on it and gave it a shot. It's just what I thought it'd be. Cute and whimsical. Rainbow colors exploding everywhere, silly ghosts and a kitty with butterfly wings. You even get dance moves. It's been so refreshing to play, I can't wait to get back to it.
Next up, is Slay the Spire on PC, which leaves early access on January 23. This is one of the few games I purchased in early access and it was already a solid game. Your goal is to defeat monsters as you climb the spire following the path of your choice. You can pick the safe path or the riskier one. Either way, you build your card deck and collect relics as you climb to make yourself stronger. It's easy to play and never boring with three characters to chose from. I'm looking forward to playing the finished game.
Thursday brings Jackquest: the Tale of the Sword to PC. It's an action platformer with pixellated artwork. It's got monsters to kill, loot to collect, secrets to find and, as always, power-ups and weapons. It looks completely fun and satisfying.
But Friday is my big day. I've been waiting months for this. Resident Evil 2: the Remake. I played this constantly when it first came out on Playstation. So, to play it again, but completely overhauled gives me shivers.
The monkey wrench is I also have a short story competition that I'm competing in. The story is due Saturday night. Typically Friday and Saturday are my frenzy days where I'm in the thick of edits and rewrites. Can I finish the short story before Friday? Fingers crossed, cause Leon and I have a date.
Throughout the week I'll stream my escapades on my Twitch channel gametimewithjess. Join me for awkwardness and fun.
