A new feature here in The Basement as gamer gal Jess takes on video games new and old on a weekly basis. This week she tackles the Resident Evil 2 1-Shot Demo that dropped earlier today. Stick with us!
My plan this morning was to play the Resident Evil 2 1-Shot Demo, but it's kind of hard to play when there's nothing to download. I searched, Googled and waited and, in the end, got told I just had to wait until it was released in my area. Grrr. Hours later, it was finally our turn and the download appeared.
So, what did I think? Well, it's a definite improvement on the original when you look at the graphics and voice acting. The inventory was also reminiscent of Resident Evil 7, which I liked. It was neat to see the blend of old and new.
But 30 minutes is not enough time. I really don't want to side with the naysayers, but it was disappointing to see that timer tick over 30 minutes and to not be at the end. Was I close? Not a clue, I've been avoiding spoilers.
Obviously, I puttered around too long in the beginning, but I'm a completionist. I've got to try every door and turn every corner. When I realized I wasn't going to make it, the mad sprint began, and it killed me to leave the unexplored behind me. In particular, there was a room full of locked lockers that I was desperate to explore, but two zombies got in my way, and I failed my through it, and thus began my mad dash.
The 30-minute demo was a neat idea, but I didn't enjoy it. I'm not a speed runner. I find it takes away from the game itself. Luckily, I've got my hubby's PS4 and my Steam account, so I've got two more tried to finish and further explore. Let's home my aim improves.
