I need to come right out and say it: shows about baking, crafting and sewing aren't my pint of ale. Anyone who has followed this site and our show over the years should know that. In fact, Shawn and I are pretty much the exact opposite of such things.
So why did I binge all six episodes of Netflix's The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell the other night? Because it's just so ducking good!
Yes, I know I'm well behind the show's Oct 12 release. October was a rough month. Wanna fight about it?
Anyway, I dug the hell out of show about baking, crafting and sewing. Why? Because it's the horror version of a baking, crafting and sewing show hosted by a charming, talented and downright beautiful host (the Christine McConnell of the Curious Creations) and her Muppet sidekicks. If that isn't enough to sell you on the series, I don't know what is.
But I will elaborate. Ms. McConnell rose to Internet fame creating horror-themed food and crafts and sewing her own vintage 50's style clothing. She's as talented as she is good looking, and brings a dark wit to the show, which was apparent in her Instagram photos. There's also a splash of Tim Burton's sensibilities here as well, which I approve of. This makes for appealing viewing that works for kids and adults alike.
The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell is a charming way to spend 30 minutes, or in my case three hours. It's a Good, and I hope Netflix is smart enough to bring it back for a second season.
