Mike S. and I have this schtick -- more of an in-joke actually -- about killer squirrels. Mostly because it's a silly idea that's kinda scary at the same time. Kinda. I mean killer squirrels? Really?
Seems Wanted/Nightwatch director Timur Bekmambetov finds the killer squirrel concept as appealing as me and The S as he's pushing ahead with a horror movie about, you guessed it, killer squirrels. Suffice to say it's likely a horror/comedy. Likely.
By the way, the flick will be called Squirrels.
No word yet on a writer, director or stars. All we know is Bekmambetov is involved and he's put together the below sales trailer to generate interest. I've watched it. I'm interested.
Check it:
As for plot? When a young man’s estranged father is killed under suspicious circumstances, he returns home for the first time in years to get to the bottom of the mystery. Hoping to uncover some logical explanation, he instead finds his mom’s sleazy new boyfriend, a natural gas company buying up the town, an angry female sheriff who happens to be his ex-girlfriend, and an army of flesh-eating squirrels hellbent on destroying everything in their path due to an erosion of their food chain as a result of environmental destruction by the gas company.
Yeah, we'll keep you posted on this one. If a killer tire movie can be rad, so can a killer squirrel movie.
