Jason versus The Town That Dreaded Sundown (2014)

Back in the 1970s, a low-budget thriller loosely based on a real killing spree was released. The Town That Dreaded Sundown is now considered a micro classic of sorts, and one that inspired a loose remake/sequel. How does this new version rate, especially considering I've not seen the original? Stick with me! Sixty five years after a masked serial killer terrorized the small town of Texarkana, the so-called Moonlight Murders begin again. Is it a copycat or something even more sinister?

A trailer and poster for The Town That Dreaded Sundown

This is, of course, a trailer and poster for the remake of The Town That Dreaded Sundown , not the 1976 original, because we'd be waaaaayyyy behind the times if that were the case. No, this new version comes by way of producer Jason Blum ( Insidious , Sinister , Paranormal Activity ) and American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy , which makes it required viewing in my book.
