Contributor Matt Bellamy makes his triumphant return to The Basement when he and I headed to the multiplex this eve to take in Robert Egger's acclaimed horror flick The Witch. Naturally, we were compelled to set down and "discuss" this film, which is sure to polarize movie and horror fans everywhere. That being said, does this festival fave hold up for a couple of die hards like Matt and I? Stick with us!

A24's The Witch is getting great reviews. Check that, stellar reviews, with some critics saying it's the best horror movie to come down the pike in years. This makes it a must see in my books. And, truth is, Shawn and I have been invited to a screening in Vancouver next week. Whether or not we go depends on travel arrangements etc, but I sure hope one or both of us can pull it off.

Man. Oh man. The last couple seconds of this trailer are pure gold. Pure. Fucking. Gold. Spoiler alert. We've been pimping James Wan 's upcoming haunted house flick, The Conjuring , for some time. Since it was known as The Warren Files actually, alluding to famous ghost hunters Ed and Lorraine Warren . Now we've got a look at the film, and it looks great! Written by Chad and Carey Hayes , The Conjuring follows the Warrens as they attempt to rid a family's New England farmhouse of ghosts. Judging by the way the spirits behave in this teaser trailer, they're kinda crafty and annoying, in a spooky way. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga play the Warrens. Lili Taylor stars on the matriarch of the family plagued by spirits. I strongly suggest you turn out the lights, crank the sound, and prepare to shit your shorts. The Conjuring hits theatres July 19.  My birthday. I know what I'm doing to celebrate my . . .  never you mind! Source: Apple Related ...
