Review: Millennium After the Millennium

If listeners recall, during each of our sit downs with the fine folks behind the Back to Frank Blank campaign I have preached my love for the TV series Millennium. It is, in my biased opinion, the best TV show that ever was. Cancelled in its prime, the Lance Henriksen vehicle was never given a proper conclusion, which is where Back to Frank Black came into play. Troy Foreman, James McLean and company pushed for a grand finale that would give closure to the series, and lead character Frank Black's plight.

Millennium After the Millennium

We Came from the Basement is scheduled to return to the Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show this upcoming Friday, and we're bringing our first interview in quite a while with us. Joining Jason and Shane Woodford at about 8:40 a.m. (Shawn is on vacation) are filmmakers Troy Foreman and Jason Morris, the driving forces behind the upcoming documentary Millennium After the Millennium .

Back to Back to Frank Black, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and The X-Files revival

It's a packed house in terms of people and content this episode as Jason, Shawn and Amy welcome back Troy Foreman and James McLean of the Back to Frank Black campaign, which aims to revive, in some form, Chris Carter's 90s TV series Millennium. Naturally, The Basement Dwellers discuss that series, which starred the great Lance Henriksen, and where the campaign is at in terms of bringing the series and its hero, Frank Black, back. But the conversation quickly turns to a little movie that's quietly slipped into theatres this weekend -- Star Wars: The Force Awakens -- and the impact the Star Wars saga has had on popular culture. Plus James's theory that Luke is a douche. Plus, Troy and James have a few words to say about the revival of Chris Carter's uber popular series The X-Files, which hits TV screens next month. Things also take a political turn as The Basement dives into politics, and opinions are voiced about U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump. ...

Is Jessica Chastain on for True Detective Season 2?

Just a quick bit of he said, she said for you on this Thursday morn, as rumours out of Hollywood report  Zero Dark Thirty actress, and all around hottie,  Jessica Chastain has been offered a lead role in the second season of  HBO's  brilliant True Detective . Naturally, the award winning actress's peeps deny any involvement in the acclaimed series, but this is nothing new. A deal is often denied until the ink is dry and the cash is in the account.

Happy Halloween from The Basement

The scariest night of the year is upon us, kids are out trick r treating, and the candy and beer are flowing freely. But before us Basement Dwellers numb ourselves into a horror-movie coma, I thought I'd share some music from what I consider required viewing at Halloween. A lot of people screen a horror film like John Carpenter's Halloween, The Exorcist or Trick r Treat, but I go with a season two episode from the TV series Millennium called The Curse of Frank Black. It's a Halloween-themed episode, with hero Frank Black (Lance Henriksen) facing some demons -- personal and otherwise -- on All Hallow's Eve. This is spooky stuff, told almost without dialogue, and works as a stand alone episode AND within the series's continuity. It also evokes a real feeling for the holiday. It's awesome television thanks to writers Glen Morgan and James Wong. Anyway, enough of my jibber jabber. Time to get back to the festivities. Thanks for spending a couple of minutes...
