'Twas the night before the night before Christmas

'Twas the night before the night before Christmas, and all through The Basement... Well, you get the drift! This isn't the Christmas most people imagined, what with the global pandemic still out there and all. But, as holds true with this time of year, there is still magic in the air. Vaccines have begun to roll out, and there's that much anticipated light at the end of the tunnel. As Hans Gruber once said, "it is a time of miracles. So be of good cheer..." I just want to thank each and every one of you for tuning into our show on Radio NL 610 AM Kamloops and/or the podcast. And thanks to all those who take a few minutes each day to read one of the articles posted here on the site. Mike S and Marcus Flor or doing the lion's share of that work, and they're doing a damn fine job of it. Mike S will be dropping a few posts between now and 2021, otherwise we're all settling in for a long winter's break. We're back on the mighty NL Jan. 8, and the fi...

Us trailer a Christmas gift to horror fans

Sure, it's Christmas Day, and the time is supposed to be spent basking in the joy of family and friends. But . . . the trailer for Jordan Peele's new horror movie Us dropped this morning . . . and it's a thing to be shared! You see, this looks like it's going to be a downright interesting -- and terrifying -- motion picture, one that begs to be seen in a crowded theatre with other horror fans. Merry Christmas from The Basement

That headline pretty much sums it up: Shawn, Amy and I would like to wish our listeners and readers a very Merry Christmas and the happiest of New Years. This was a big year for us, as Shawn and I came back from self-imposed exile and, with the help of the beautiful and talented Amy Wickenheiser, resurrected The Basement into something new and exciting. And many of the people who stuck with us before continue to do so, so thanks to you, our audience and fans, and to Amy for coming on board.

Merry Krampus from The Basement

Twas the night before the night before Christmas and all through The Basement, a lot of creatures are stirring . . . and they aren't concerned with who's naughty or nice. In truth, it's time for Shawn and I, Mike S. Anthony Michael Bosa, Kara Evans, Matt Bellamy and the entire Basement crew to kick back, crack an alcoholic beverage of choice (might we suggest an ounce each of Kahlua , root beer , eggnog and spiced rum chilled over ice) and spend time with friends and family. Presents are welcome but optional. But don't fear, we've got a new episode for your ear holes comin' at yeah on Friday with reviews of the cartoon-inspired spookfest Saturday Morning Massacre and the alien invasion flick Storage 24 , plus our picks for Top 5 seasonal movies. We promise you there won't be a Love Actually or It's A Wonderful Life in the mix. Until then, we wish you all the best of the holiday and a very Merry Christmas. That's right, it's Christm...
