Halloween Day by Day: "Get Out" (2017)

Chris is meeting his girlfriend's family for the first time.  Strange comments by her parents, combined with odd behavior of the black staff causes Chris to begin investigating the family's history a bit more. What he discovers is a conspiracy that threatens himself and thousands of blacks with enslavement and destruction... The story is really good in Jordan Peele's " Get Out ."  It takes the touchy subject of slavery, and talks about it in a frank, open way via the use of horror.  As someone that has a real fear of losing my ability to think and control my body, the concept of "the sunken place," and having my body hijacked really struck a chord. The characters aren't too bad.  They aren't really all that fleshed out, beyond "good" and "bad", but you're able to at least root for Chris.  I didn't mind the character of Rod, but felt that his comedic turn was a bit much.  His scenes are funny as fuck, but I fel...

The Dirt, Triple Threat, Dumbo and Unplanned

The Basement Boys are back in town, and they're ready to pleasure your ear holes with a Triple Threat of reviews, and all the entertainment news you need to plan your viewing for the week ahead. That's right, we worked one of the flicks on the chopping block this episode into the last sentence. Pretty cool, yes? Oui!

Review: Us

I have mixed feelings about Jordan Peele's Us, which just opened huge at the box office, not only cementing horror as the current "It" genre, but Peele as a filmmaker to be reckoned with. Many are calling his film a masterpiece, along with using the buzz words "nightmarish" and "Terrifying." Well it certainly is an accomplished and entertaining piece of work, I wouldn't use any of those words to describe Us.

Us, Triple Frontier and Flay

Only one big release in theatres, but still lots of all things entertainment to talk about. Not to mention an exclusive movie to review. That's what Jason and Shawn are up to during the next half hour. You get this morning's Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show segment featuring guest host Shane Woodford, and two more movie reviews for your ear holes. Not to mention a little (local) entertainment news as well. All for free, bitches!

Shazam, Critters, and Us... oh my!

It's not a busy weekend at the movies, but it's certainly a big one... one that promises to chill audiences to the core. What movie could possibly be so fiendish as to strive to do such a thing? NL news director Shane Woodford joins Jason and Shawn this morning, and they'll let you know on the mighty Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show!

Us trailer a Christmas gift to horror fans

Sure, it's Christmas Day, and the time is supposed to be spent basking in the joy of family and friends. But . . . the trailer for Jordan Peele's new horror movie Us dropped this morning . . . and it's a thing to be shared! You see, this looks like it's going to be a downright interesting -- and terrifying -- motion picture, one that begs to be seen in a crowded theatre with other horror fans. And, given it's written and directed by the man who brought us Get Out, there's gonna be a social message too.
