Blake Lively battles a great white shark in The Shallows

I love shark movies. And by shark movies, I mean flicks like Jaws or even Deep Blue Sea. I don't mean all The Asylum or other SyFy shark movies, which have cheapened the scare factor of a very real predator. I'm talking seriously made, seriously thrilling shark movies. Looks like the new Sony release The Shallows is attempting to take a serious stab at making sharks threatening again, an they've picked a serious star and and a high concept to do it.

Non-Stop trailer offers Liam Neeson, airborne thrills

Which, when you think about it, is all one really needs from a Liam Neeson action movie set on an airplane. Anything less would be recalculous. Director Juame Collet-Serra's thriller features Neeson as an air marshal who must spring into action when passengers are threatened on an international flight. Judging from the preview, there's a lot a red herrings and text messaging going on as well. Non-Stop looks like the kind of movie that could be good or it could be ass. Either way, Neeson is always dependable even if the movies he's in -- I'm talking about YOU Unknown and Taken 2 -- are not. This will be a rental or cheap matinee for sure. Non-Stop hits theatres Feb. 28. Source: The Verge Related articles Forget the Snakes. And Jebus bless the clever bastards at Entertainment Weekly for it. I have to point them out because their logo is stamped across the picture above. But hey, credit goes where credit is due. Non-Stop re-teams Neeson with his Unknown director Jaume Collet-Serra in the story of air marshal who begins receiving text messages threatening to kill a passenger on an international flight every 20 minutes until $150 million is transferred into a secret account. Sounds like a pretty nice high-concept action film to me. Usually, unless there's snakes or Bruce Willis involved, it's pretty hard to make a movie that takes place on an airplane exciting. But, with Neeson on board, I'll give it a watch. Non-Stop is scheduled for release later this year. Joel Silver produces.
