CGI-heavy I, Frankenstein trailer debuts

Frankenstein is the mack these days. Frankenstein's Army. The Frankenstein Theory . Now I, Frankenstein . I hope Mary Shelley 's ancestors are rolling in the dough. I don't know what to make of the below preview for the upcoming I, Frankenstein. I dig Aaron Eckhart and think Yvonne Strahovski puts the hot in hot, but this comes across as the bastard son of Underworld and Van Helsing . Granted, it's from the makers of Underworld, but still . . . Judge for yourselves. I dig revisionist stuff, and love me some action and monsters, but this preview does nothing for me. Actually, it almost put me to sleep. We'll know for sure if I, Frankenstein sucks or not come Jan. 24, 2014. The Collection, The Frankenstein Theory and an interview with Andrew Weiner

Never underestimate the power of social media. Doesn't mean you have to like it, let alone understand it, but don't underestimate it. A chance encounter on Twitter led to tonight's feature interview with Andrew Weiner, director of The Frankenstein Theory , which also happens to be one of two movies on the chopping block tonight. Shawn sat down with Andrew for about 45 minutes, and it's a conversation for the ages, according to the Bad Man himself. However, being a 60-minute radio show/podcast, you only get to hear about 18 minutes of the interview. The Basement Boys will post the talk in its entirety at a later date. Stick with us! As for the movies, first up is the horror sequel The Collection. A man who escaped from the vicious grips of the serial killer known as The Collector is blackmailed into rescuing an innocent girl from the killer's booby-trapped warehouse. The first film, The Collector, was so so. Only time, and Jason and Shawn, will tell if this...

The Basement and The Frankenstein Theory

We've made an adjustment to our next episode in The Basement, one that's got us pretty excited and should appeal to fans as well. If you listened to last week's show, now available to your right as a podcast, Shawn and I planned to interview Dan Johansson, a musician whose work we've regularly featured on the show, next week and review the movies The Collection and The Frankenstein Theory . Alas, due to technical issues the interview could not be completed in time. We pledge to have Dan on the program soon. But, and this is a heavy but, we are proud to bring you an exclusive interview with Andrew Weiner the director and co-writer of The Frankenstein Theory, which we're reviewing on the upcoming program! How'd this happen? I often tweet along to movies we review on the show, and Andrew happened to catch my tweets and strike up a conversation. Next thing we knew, Shawn was interviewing Andrew via phone from New York . We're excited to review The Fra...
