When it comes to horror/comedy, it's hard to beat Evil Dead 2 (1987). It's the fantastic blend of monster FX and dark humour that makes it so much fun. A lot of that is thanks to director Sam Raimi, but also the star of the show, Bruce Campbell, as the excellent Ash Williams. This film is essentially watching Ash be tormented in a cabin for an hour and a half, so he's got the whole movie to carry. Luckily, Bruce pulls it off, creating a brash but likeable everyman that you can get behind. Now, good 'ole Bruce isn't the only high note here. There are some excellent special effects to behold. While they can be cheesy or dated at times, they always have a particular charm that perfectly works with this movie's tone. And how does he follow up his thoughts on The Evil Dead? Why, by reviewing Evil Dead 2 of course. Duh!   First horror sequel of the month, and what a sequel it is! Now, whether it's more of a remake of the first movie as opposed to an actual sequel has been debated, I think it's a little from column A and a little from column B. Bruce Campbell stars front and centre this go around and it was definitely this movie that made people notice him, it's not so much a great horror performance as it is a perfect slapstick performance that The Three Stooges would have been proud of! So it's a comedy? Kind of. It's a horror? In a way.
