We in The Basement wanted to let our readers and listeners know regular episodes/articles will be on hold until after Nov. 11 so Jay can deal with a death in the family -- his mother passed away shortly before Halloween. The Radio NL 610 AM Morning Show segment will resume Nov 16, with the extended cut podcast debuting Nov 18. Mike S will resume posts in The Basement at some point next week, once he returns from holidays. "The walls of our youth crumble every day . . . today a whole section fell." That is part of a text message my friend Carl sent me earlier today delivering the sad news that Leonard Nimoy had passed away. And those are appropriate words to describe how it feels to lose someone like Mr. Nimoy.

"Today's a good day to die" Pretty great line to set up a movie where all of the characters are seemingly obsessed with the idea of death, and what may, or may not come next once your brain shuts down, and your heart quits beating. I think it's fair to say we've all been curious about death at one point or another but most of us wouldn't go to the length that the med students in this flick go to gain some answers.

OK, not really. But the compilation video below does show four minutes of people cheating death in a way that would make the brains behind the Final Destination franchise proud. Some of the near-death experiences are truly mind blowing. Yet, at the same time, this is perfect Sunday night viewing if you're a little bit warped like The Basement Boys. Enjoy, if you can.
