Review: Dead Sound

Maybe I'm getting too old for this shit, but I can't believe someone went and made another movie about highly unlikable youth who run afoul of some nasty people, and have nasty things done to them by said nasty people... therefor creating 80 minutes of barely watchable cinema with no one to cheer for. Dead Sound is indeed a movie about bad things happening to unlikable youth. The story has a group of friends trying to get to a party on nearby Block Island. Naturally, they miss the last boat out and are forced to charter a fishing vessel to get them to their destination. This being a thriller, the crew has no intention of taking them there. In fact, they intend to teach "our heroes" a few "life lessons." I'd be more forgiving of this film if I thought there was some deeper meaning behind it. One can almost see a theme of blue collar vs white collar, and the past coming back to haunt those too greedy to care about how their actions affect others. ...

Dead Sound, Locke & Key, and Top 5 "Date" Movies

It's the day after Valentine's Day, but that doesn't mean we're done celebrating all things romantical. Why, you ask? Because this here is the podcast version of last night's successful broadcast on the mighty Radio NL 610 AM Kamloops! And Jason, Shawn and Mike S bring on the romance -- Basement style -- with their Top 5 "Date" Movies. These are movies only a woman who loves a Basement Dweller gets talked into seeing. Shawn even went to his wife for input on this one, while Jason details how he "paid the price" for subjecting his bride of 13 years to a horror movie early in their dating days. Mike S alphabetized his list, because that's how his mind works... Jason and Shawn also take on the upcoming thriller Dead Sound starring veteran genre actor Jeff Kober of The Walking Dead. Is this water-based tale of terror worth your time and dollar, or is it the longest boat ride ever? Stick with us! And stick around for the weekend rundow...

Sonic the Hedgehog takes The Photograph of Fantasy Island

It's the day of love, passion and romance... so it only makes sense Hollywood would release adaptations of video games and TV shows right? I said right? Well, there is ONE movie coming out this week that at least touches on love and romance, and Jason and Shawn will fill you in on it, and a whole lot more, when From The Basement takes over the Radio NL 610 AM airwaves at 6:05 tonight. Yes, a Sonic the Hedgehog movie is a thing, as is a big-screen version of the classic TV series Fantasy Island. What about that romance, you ask? That one is called The Photograph, so it's your likely date-night choice if any lovebirds are so inclined. The Basement Boys will give you the lowdown on these movie, and more. Jason and Shawn also review the upcoming thriller Dead Sound starring The Walking Dead's Jeff Kober, and provide their Top 5 non-traditional date movies. It is Valentine's Day after all. Add a review from Mike S, and the rest of the weekend rundown, and you'v...

New poster, trailer for aquatic thriller Dead Sound

There's something scary about being trapped on, in or beneath the water. Maybe it's because the environment alone can kill you, let alone what's on, in or beneath it. No matter the reason, water-based horror films are among my favourite. The new thriller Dead Sound looks to capitalize on that fear as it tells the story of four friends who decide to attend a massive blow out on Block Island. Unfortunately, they miss the last boat out and are forced to charter a fishing vessel to get them there. Even worse is the captain and crew of said fishing vessel have no intention of delivering the passengers alive... Check out the trailer: Dead Sound stars genre icon Jeff Kober (The First Power, The Walking Dead) and Terminator: Dark Fate's Brett Azar. It's set to premiere on DVD and Digital March 3 via our friends at Uncork'd Entertainment. Source: Uncork'd Entertainment
