So say we all...again; Battlestar: Galactica lives... again

The headline says it all. With the streaming wars in full swing between Netflix, Disney, Apple and CBS, the Peacock network, otherwise known as NBC, is getting into the game. They're bringing back their beloved franchise from the late 70s to help fight the battle... Battlestar: Galactica. Because everything that's old is new again, obviously. Did you know Battlestar: Galactica was previously, and successfully, rebooted on SyFy from 2004 to 2009? Little is known about the latest incarnation, other than Mr. Robot showrunner Sam Esmail is involved, and the series takes place within the same universe as the 2004-2009 run. I grew up with the original Galactica, and enjoyed the 2000s redo very much. I don't know how much I can give a shit the third time around, but I'll try. We're curious to see how the streaming wars play out. Disney has Star Wars, Apple has Jason Momoa's new series, and CBS has Star Trek. The NBC service, which is called Peacock, debuts Ap...

John Fallon is back in action as Billy Trigger

We're psyched to inform Basement Dwellers that our man John "The Arrow" Fallon has another film in pre-production! Billy Trigger, which John wrote back in 2008, has received financing and will shoot in October. For fans of his first feature, Deaden, this is very good news indeed. Blisteringly good actually because Deaden is one of the best works of grindhouse/action cinema we've seen in years. John, Berge Garabedian, and Christian Viel produce with Viel also on board as director. John plays Billy Trigger. The action film is scouting locations and has locked Battlestar: Galactica's Matthew Bennett as one of the stars. But what's this bad boy all about? Read on: Irish mobster Billy Trigger has been the O’ Brien family’s number one enforcer for three years now. And for good reasons; he is cold, calculated and relentless and has never tackled a job he couldn’t finish. His life is trouble-free and solitary as it mainly consists of: loose women, ...

Next on the chopping block: the Leah Cairns interview, Blood Into Wine and Splice

It's going to be a night of all talk and no rock in The Basement as we present our long-touted interview with actress Leah Cairns! Leah grew up in Kamloops before embarking on an eight-year backpacking adventure that eventually led her to a career in acting. She's had a starring role in the Canadian TV series Godiva's and appeared on the Chris Isaak Show, Kyle XY and Supernatural. But Leah is probably best know as Margaret "Racetrack" Edmondson on the hit series Battlestar: Galactica and as Al Pacino's love interest in the film 88 Minutes. Our chat with Leah will take up most of tonight's episode, and we promise it'll be a lot of fun. But don't fear: there's always room in The Basement for reviews and we've got our biased opinions on the documentary Blood Into Wine and the Canadian sci-fi/horror flick Splice starring Sarah Polley and Adrien Brody. So turn up that dial tonight at 10 p.m. on 92.5FM CFBX Kamloops or listen live at www.th...
