When we first heard about John Wick it sounded like some direct-to-video cheapie starring the once great Keanu Reeves. Then the first trailer showed up and HOLY FUCK! Gotta see! So that's what Basement contributor Matt Bellamy and I did tonight (along with some guy who works with the CBC). Does John Wick live up to the great trailer? Stick with us!

How did this movie slip completely under my radar? And why hasn't Lionsgate been pushing the new Keanu Reeves vehicle John Wick for months? 'Cause this, this has badass hit written all over it. It's also further proof that messing with a loner's dog is seriously, seriously stupid. And it is. Observe:

Weren't we hyping this shit a year ago? Yes, I do believe we were. Then Paramount pulled G.I. Joe: Retaliation from its summer release schedule for some 3D conversion and a bunch of other reasons I'm not willing to get into here. Now the flick is weeks away from finally hitting theatres and we've got a TV spot to entertain your eye holes. A TV spot featuring Dwayne Johnson , Bruce Willis -- who is about to light shit up with A Good Day to Die Hard -- and the lovely Adrianne Palicki . Oh yeah, Channing Tatum is back as Duke . I don't know about you, but I dug G.I. Joe and this looks like even more fun. A guilty pleasure for sure, but there's not enough of those in the world. Anywho, enough of my my jibber jabber. Because nothing . . . and I mean absolutely NOTHING . . . is sacred anymore, the world will have a Red Dawn remake by the U.S. Thanksgiving. Actually, this was made several years ago and sat on a shelf until Chris Hemsworth became a big star with Thor and The Avengers. And let's not forget The Cabin in the Woods. If you grew up in the 80s, you likely saw the original Red Dawn, which featured an invasion of the good 'ole U.S. of A. by those damn Russians. Now the bad guys are from North Korea. Well, why not? Excuse my cynicism, but I could give two shits about this Red Dawn. I dig Hemsworth and am a tireless fan of Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who takes over for Powers Booth. But aside from a few explosions, a couple of hotties and the use of Filter's Hey Man Nice Shot, there is nothing in this trailer that will put my ass in a theatre seat to see it. But watch the trailer and judge for yourself.

Because the presence of The Bruce, The Rock, the hotness of Adrianne Palicki (above) and a whole bunch of wonderful toys weren't already enough to sell us on the G.I. Joe sequel, the fine folks at Paramount had to go and cut another ass-kicking trailer. The first preview was pretty damn sexy, but this one gives us more action, more of the Cobra us 80s dorks grew up loving, and a better sense of the set pieces. I was already excited to see G.I. Joe: Retaliation, now I'm giddy with anticipation. Joe fans need only wait a couple more months til this hits the big screen. Until June 29, we've got this badass trailer to enjoy!
