Is Chris Hemsworth a registered Lethal Weapon?

It's been years since The Basement heard any talk of a  Lethal Weapon reboot. To be honest, we'd hoped the project was ded. D-E-D. As in dead. However, the latest rumour out of Hollywood suggests otherwise. Instead, it sounds like  Thor 's Chris Hemsworth has been offered the lead in what doesn't sound so much like a remake, but a half-assed continuation of the series.

The Conjuring's FX wiz join's The Shelter

Yah, yah. We say we're taking a break and then not seven days later Shawn and I each post something. Wanna fight about it? Didn't think so. But this is some wicked cool news. News that should have been delivered earlier this week. But . . . well, there was sun and booze involved. Our man John Fallon's feature directorial debut The Shelter has landed yet another talented individual, one with a connection to a high-profile flick opening on July 19, my birthday, for those who care. Thomas Wilson has joined John's crew as visual effects supervisor . His previous handiwork will be on display in James Wan 's upcoming flick's The Conjuring (opens July 19) and Insidious 2 . Past efforts also include Men In Black 3 and Gangster Squad . If that's not impressive, then I don't know what is. Like we weren't already pumped enough for this movie. The Shelter , written and directed by John and starring none other than Michael Pare , rolls in January....

Get a load of the Gangster Squad

Noir-style cop movies aren't all the rage these days, but Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer and stars Josh Brolin, Sean Penn, Emma Stone, Nick Nolte and Ryan Gosling seem poised to change all that with their upcoming flick Gangster Squad. Sure, the title is a little silly, but the preview below looks anything but. This tale of a rogue band of cops taking down an L.A. gangster during the dirty 30s looks as badass as the production design is beautiful. Did I mention Emma Stone's in this? She is. This is a great cast and, if there's one thing Hollywood is good at, it's putting on a spectacle. Gangster Squad is due out some time this year, and it's a film I am going to keep on my radar. In the meantime, give this trailer a peep and sound of if you are so inclined. PS: excuse the Revlon ad at the beginning. Just click on as soon as you are allowed. It came with the trailer. Promise! PPS: I gotta dust off my fedora and trenchcoat :)
