Let's face it; the world is going to shit. Or at least is on a correction course that's going to get a lot worse before it gets way better. We gotta have faith in that.
How best to navigate these trying times? Why, by watching The Car of course!
Actually, watching The Car won't restore your faith in much, nor give you the inner strength to get through anything. But it is an entertaining diversion that, well, entertains. And sometimes that's enough.
The Car is essentially a Jaws clone, featuring a mysterious car that comes out of nowhere and starts running people down. It's up to a sheriff, played by the great James Brolin, and his deputies to stop it. Like I said, it's kinda like Jaws.
Thing is, The Car is a boat load of fun. It's steeped in 70s sensibilities, and tries to do nothing more than entertain. And entertain it does! There's a great mid-movie car chase that sees The Car rolling over police vehicles and causing all manner of mayhem and destruction. It's hinted at The Car is of supernatural origin, which makes it almost invincible.
I liked the characters too. James Brolin and Kathleen Lloyd have a great chemistry. R.G. Armstrong owns as the town bully. And Eddie Little Sky... well, his performance is stereotyped today, but I really enjoyed his First Nations tough guy.
Don't think about The Car too much. Just sit down, grab a beer, and enjoy. On that level, it's a Good.
